What are Cataracts?

Cataracts occur when your eye’s clear lens turns cloudy, which results from changes in the tissue that makes up your lens. Although they often develop gradually, cataracts may eventually diminish your sight, like seeing through a foggy window. A few risk factors include aging, family history, obesity, smoking, medical conditions, excessive exposure to sunlight or eye trauma. Cataracts caused by trauma may worsen quickly depending on the trauma’s severity.
