What is Diabetic Eye Disease?

Diabetes can damage the blood vessels inside your retina, the light-sensitive area behind the eye, a condition that’s the leading cause of blindness among U.S. adults. Symptoms include blurry or double vision, pain or pressure in your eyes and trouble seeing from the corners of your eyes. Also, you should seek attention if you see rings, flashing lights or dark floating spots. Diabetes can also cause glaucoma or cataracts.
